Brain Boosting Smoothie with the Best Ingredients

Posted by Ethan Boldt on

Recently, I was challenged by some friends to come up with a "Brain Boosting Smoothie." So I decided to get some of the best brain foods that work well in a smoothie, and then add in Ancient Nutrition's latest offering: Multi Collagen Protein Powder Brain Boost, which features a clinically studied ingredient that supports mental clarity and concentration.

Not only is this smoothie bursting with great "brain boosting" ingredients, it's also the perfect macronutrient meal to get your day off to the right start. At 310 calories per serving, it contains 29 grams of carbohydrates (including 9 grams of fiber), 18.5 grams of healthy fats and 12.5 grams of protein.

"Brain Boosting" Ingredients

Avocado: Because of its impact on neurotransmitter levels and help balance hormones naturally, the fatty acids in avocados can benefit mood levels.

Blueberries: There have been many studies suggesting that eating blueberries could improve memory and cognition.

MCT oil: Your brain is largely made up of fatty acids, so you need a steady supply from your diet to feel your best, think clearly, perform well at work and stay sharp well into older age. Medium-chain fats are believed to be one of the most easily digested, utilized and protective fatty acids that exists.

Walnuts: Walnut benefits for the brain include supporting memory and thought processing. The essential omega-3s in walnuts can also aid age-related conditions.

Bananas: Bananas contain an amino acid called tryptophan. Tryptophan is used to produce serotonin, one of our main “happy hormones.”

Multi Collagen Protein Powder Brain Boost: Brain Boost provides you with 10 types of collagen from four real food sources, and it's also powdered by a blend of botanicals and adaptogens that have been used for centuries to support cognitive health.

That includes organic fermented ashwagandha root, a well-known adaptogen that can help fight effects of stress, promote healthy energy and a positive outlook. Additionally, you'll find ginkgo leaf (used to help support energy), bacopa brahmi leaf (assists in concentration) and organic lion’s mane mushroom extract (supports general cognitive health).

How to Make a Brain Boosting Smoothie

While getting all the ingredients may not super easy, once you have them, this recipe is a cinch to make.

Simply add all the ingredients to a power blender and blend until smooth. Feel free to add more water if it's too thick for your taste. My wife Chelsea and I enjoy the thickness and may even serve this as a smoothie bowl.
